Because Im HAPPY and I love Washi....

Our big girl turns 7 next week and although I wanted to surprise her with a Happy Birthday sign..... she is a maker like me so I decided it would be a nice thing for us to do together. I also just happened to have bought some more Washi tape and it seemed like the easiest way to add beautiful patterns and colour to cardboard... Easy peasy lemon squeazy.... in fact.

Here are your tools for this little project. Some A4 cardboard, again could be any, I chose box board because I always have plenty of it. An assortment of Washi or coloured tapes, scissors, twine or string, and you will also need a hole punch.

Now all you have to do is cover the card in tape.... we did stripes, its easy and quick. We ended up cutting 2 letters out of each A4 piece of card so we covered 7 in total.

Once that is all done you just need to write out the letters on the reverse side of the card. I did this free hand but you could also print out the letters and use a particular font. Remember to write the letters back to front, so that they read correctly on the taped side. Add 2 holes at the top of each letter to thread your string through and you're almost there. Just a small note, I taped the string to the back of each letter so they don't move along the string...

So there you have it... A Happy Birthday sign, made with love that you can pull out at every birthday party.

If you have a birthday coming and decide to give this a go, I would love to hear about it? And see it of course! Tag @katetaylorandcloth and #taylorandcloth on Instagram or leave a comment below, I would love to hear from you...
